Introduction

Nicola Truppin has worked in heath care for over 20 years and most recently, served as Manager of Member/ Provider Appeals & Grievances at Tufts Health Plan. During her 5 ½ year tenure at THP, she and her staff handled member and provider disputes within the framework of conflict management principles. She also taught the appeals resolution process to medical residents at Tufts Health Care Institute’s annual managed care seminar. Ms. Truppin trained in Health Care Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at the Harvard School of Public Health and was the administrator for Harvard Medical School clinical courses at Massachusetts General Hospital for three years and for the Clinical Investigator Training Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for four years.

As a health care attorney, Ms. Truppin’s practice was devoted exclusively to negotiating with clinical teams about medication treatment plans for legally incompetent patients. Ms. Truppin’s work involves collaborative health care problem solving with patients, providers and employers. In addition to her work with HNP, she coordinates the health care practice of The Mediation Group in Brookline, Massachusetts, a nonprofit firm specializing in mediation, arbitration, facilitation, consensus building, training and consulting.

Ms. Truppin received an A.B. from Washington University in St. Louis and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.

Our mission is to improve the health of New Zealanders by developing a centralized database and website gateway leading to accurate and reliable health information, tools and resources that support, equip and enable individuals and their families to manage their health and any long-term health conditions more effectively in partnership with their healthcare providers.
